About This Event
Celebrate National Farmers Market Week with a free melon tasting! In our Farmer’s Fork demo this Saturday (8/8), Jack Richardson of Upriver Organics will teach you about the different types of melons that you might run into at the farmers market (including obscure and new varieties), how to pick the perfectly ripe fruit, and more information about melons than you ever thought you needed to know. A variety of melons will be available for tasting! Our Farmer’s Fork educational series aims to highlight in-season produce local to the Willamette Valley, and to educate our community on how to use these seasonal crops in the kitchen. Demos start at 11AM and 12PM inside the Pavilion, and are FREE to attend! About the farmer: “My name is Jack Richardson, and I farm with my wife Hayley. We farm a diverse range of fruits and vegetables at Upriver Organics. Melons are one of our specialties! I’ve has been growing melons for over 30 years, and work to perfect the art of growing unique and delicious melons and watermelons. Thank you.”
