Privacy Policy
This page explains what This Week in Eugene records when you browse events or subscribe to the newsletter.
Browse without an account
This site has no user accounts and no login. You don't need to give me any personal information to browse events. The newsletter (below) is the only optional sign-up.
Newsletter
If you sign up, I store your email address and which signup form you used. Resend delivers the confirmation, welcome, and newsletter emails. I count confirmations and clicks on newsletter event links to see which listings are useful; automated email security checks can also register as clicks. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe any time.
Analytics
I count page visits, filter changes, clicks on event links and actions, how far people scroll, and which page sections become visible. A section becoming visible does not mean someone read it. Reports show counts and rates so I can improve the event guide.
Page interactions use a new random identifier for each visit. A separate random identifier in your tab's session storage helps count page visits and outbound clicks. Neither is your name or email address. The engagement log does not store raw search text, email addresses, IP addresses, or full destination URLs. These measurements are not used for advertising profiles.
Cookies and browser preferences
The site uses browser storage for browsing preferences and the session measurements described above. It does not use advertising cookies.
Your browser can remember that you dismissed the newsletter invitation for seven days, followed its signup link for one day, submitted an unconfirmed signup for one day, or confirmed a signup for 180 days, so we do not keep asking. A session-only flag also prevents repeat invitations in the same tab. These preferences stay on your device and contain no email address. We also save which signup form you used with your subscription to count how many readers confirm.
Your data is not for sale
I don't sell subscriber or engagement data. Hosting, database, analytics, and email providers process data to operate the site and deliver the newsletter.
